Multi-jet linear slot diffuser with manual, thermal or electric discharge direction adjustment for cooling/heating of high spaces.
Features:
- High induction alternating multi-jet discharge
- 1-way or 2-way blow
- Individual jets rotatable through 90°
- Discharge direction adjustment options:
- Manual (standard)
- Thermal actuator (with bias adjustment)
- Electric actuator (2-position or modulating)
| Location – above: Integrated flush with a closed ceiling or freely suspended. | |
| Mixed flow discharge: 2-way blow or 1-way blow high aspiration alternating multi-stream discharge intensely mixes supply air with room air, producing high induction and creating strong supply air dilution with rapid discharge velocity decay. Low velocity, high momentum supply air motion of substantially uniform temperature distribution over short or long throws is achieved. Ideal for enhanced thermal comfort (ADPI ≥ 90%). | |
| Return air: Suitable for use as a return air inlet. | |
| Low temperature supply: May be used for low temperature (cold air) supply systems (Tsupply ≤ 10 °C), where ∆Tsupply-room ≥ -16 K. | |
| VAV dependent throw: VAV throw dependent upon airflow rate. Minimum airflow dependent upon ∆Tsupply-room (eg turndown to 25% and ≈1 L/s/m2 @ ∆Tsupply-room ≈ -16 K). | |
| Adjustable direction: Air pattern adjustable through 90°, from horizontal (cooling) through diagonal to vertical (heating). Maximum recommended discharge height:
| |
| Manual adjustment: Default airflow direction adjustment is manual. | |
| Slotted face pattern: Barrel nozzles create linear slot appearance with 1 to 6-slot options. | |
| Plastic Face: Adjustable black (default) or white (optional) plastic barrel nozzles. | |
| Metal Face: Anodised or powder coated linear aluminium profiles. |
Options
| Linear face shape: Continuous linear aesthetic, with two flanged or flangeless edge profiles. Slots match SMARTEMP Linear Multi-stream Ceiling Diffuser (LMC-AD) and Linear Multi-stream Wall Diffuser (LMW-AD). | |
| Rectangular face shape: Modular with flanged or flangeless edge profiles. | |
| Electric adjustment: Available for 2 or more slots only. Air pattern direction adjustment by means of electric actuator with 24V AC/DC power supply and 2-10 V analogue control input. Well suited to supply-to-room temperature differential control for demanding heating applications or substantial room air temperature variations. | |
| Thermal adjustment: Available for 2 or more slots only. Air pattern direction adjustment by means of a self-acting, thermally powered, wax-bulb actuator in the supply air stream (no controls or wiring required). Manually adjustable bias with temperature scale and horizontal and vertical discharge end-stops. | |
| Mounting Frame: Suitable for rendering into plaster board ceiling. Diffuser clips in from below. | |
| Plenums: Side-entry connection boxes with concealed diffuser fastenings. |

Function
SMARTEMP Linear multi-Jet Ceiling Diffuser, type LJC-AD: designed for high discharge heights; optionally available with thermal-element or electric cooling/heating discharge direction adjustment.
High capacity, high induction, 1-way blow or 2-way blow linear ceiling diffuser with 1-to-6 slots, each with multiple barrel nozzles discharging alternating multi-jets, suitable for high discharge heights and large volume spaces. Multi-jets adjustable through 90° (manually as standard; optionally by thermal or electric actuator for diffusers with 2 or more slots) to alter the air pattern from horizontal (cooling) through diagonal to vertical (heating).
Suitable for low temperature supply air (≥ 5°C) and CAV or VAV systems with extended turndown.
Nozzle barrels may be rotated to shut off airflow in segments, creating active and inactive portions (beneficial for achieving uniform aesthetics).
Installation flush with ceiling or free-hanging. Modular, continuous, flanged and flangeless options available. Mounting frame optional.
The diffuser may be flush mounted in a ceiling or freely suspended (ie no Coanda attachment to the ceiling required). The diffuser’s 1 to 6-row linear slots (greater slot numbers available on request) comprise a multitude of nozzles with manually adjustable discharge direction adjustment (for 2 or more slots, electric or thermal adjustment optional) to produce high induction discharge by breaking up the supply air stream into a multitude of discrete jets. The barrel nozzles are made of polycarbonate, dyed black (optionally white), and are located in aluminium extrusions that are anodised or powder coated.
High aspiration causes intense mixing at the diffuser discharge face, strongly diluting the supply air stream with large quantities of room air. High induction, additionally, rapidly equalises the supply air stream temperature with room air, preventing cold air dumping. Rapid supply-to-room air temperature equalisation also improves heating performance by preventing the supply air from being too buoyant. High induction airflow is characterised by uniform temperature distribution and high comfort levels in the space. High induction produces a strong increase in supply air stream mass flow rate, as well as rapid discharge velocity decay. At any given airflow rate, the SMARTEMP LJC-AD diffuser is suitable both for long throws (due to the supply air stream’s high momentum) and short throws (due to the supply air stream’s low velocity).
The SMARTEMP LJC-AD diffuser may be used in CAV systems, as well as VAV systems, including low-temperature supply air systems with ΔTsupply-room ≥ -16 K. VAV system turndown is dependent upon ΔTsupply-room (eg to 25% at ΔTsupply-room = -16 K). Due to high induction multi-jet discharge, the effective air changes per hour in the space are increased, allowing minimum specific airflow rates as low as approximately 1 L/s/m2 when the diffuser is fully turned down, whilst maintaining enhanced thermal comfort of ≥90% ADPI. Due to the rapid discharge decay characteristics of the multi-jet discharge, a high maximum specific airflow rate of 15 L/s/m2 may be achieved even at 90% ADPI.
Thermal or electric adjustment: Available for 2 or more slots only. Air pattern direction adjustment by means of an electric actuator or a self-acting, thermally powered, wax-bulb actuator in the supply air stream (no controls or wiring required for the latter). Thermal adjustment includes manually adjustable bias with temperature scale and horizontal and vertical discharge end-stops.
